Every few years, there comes a special and much anticipated event.......Puppies !!! This is a commitment that was modeled to a 4-H project and has become an endearing passion for our family.
Over the years, other families, hunters and professionals have received a puppy (some even a pair of pups) that through follow-up and feedback have assured confidence, integrity and security for all our pups, for ourselves, and the new owners.
Beyond genetics.........environment, nourishment and medical consideration are paramount.
Our dogs are given premium fuel for optimal conversion. 24-hour exercise by free roam (protecting their territory, playing) on 3-acre property. By hunting and launching hugh-air swimming routines on mountain bike rides through bosque trails by irrigation ditches and the Rio Grande River.
Participation and valuable training thanks to the Hunting Retriever Club, Inc. (HRC) Family
.
These dogs are incredible athletes. Highly intelligent and a joy to train and work with. The eyes, coat and intensity of expression upon voice and hand commands exemplify health. They know their purpose and ability, they want to please, they want to GO !!!

The mother is monitored and given support after whelping. Water and bites of fresh meat are offered by hand; as she will not get up to care for herself for some time. She is then left alone in her quiet house to rest and do her primal job. She has access to everything she needs; thus, the pups are receiving everything they need.
Puppies are immediate recipients of mother's vaccinations and heart worm prevention medications at birth.
1st vet. visit for exam and dew claw removal, three days old.
3 week vaccination and worming medication administered
6 week vaccination and worming medication administered
(Please refer to your veterinarian for continued vaccination schedule and never, never, never, forget to stay consistent with the heart worm prevention medication.)
The puppies are introduced to warm soaked puppy chow at approx. 3 weeks. Each feeding, morning and evening, are initiated with a whistle command that allows imprint for "Here" which if continued, will serve you and your dog for life. Your pup will have a good start with introduction to this important whistle imprint; but, it is up to you to follow through each time you feed your puppy and then when training begins at adolescence on walks. These are intelligent pups, but they are just tiny beginnings at 5 weeks and will need protection and care far above any future expectations for some time.
Your puppy is socialized by much human contact and the many confidence-building benefits of having their mother, aunt, grandmother and great uncle on site (neutered @6 mos.) throughout this important beginning.
Another training event that takes place (4-5 weeks old) is they are quite unconsciously introduced to water by following their pack family around as we irrigate our property. The water level is ideal for their height and ability, as their pack family shows them how much fun it is. Their environment becomes an inherent playground for their webbed feet! We have never had a puppy shy off from water. As adults, they will fully submerge on incredible water launches, because of this amazing confidence-building experience. Of course, this initial positive experience, must be continued with guarded caution as they strengthen and mature.
We now offer a Reservation List that gives priority placement to early viewing scheduling, i.e. "Picking Your Puppy". You will be contacted in the order of this priority list and provided an early selection opportunity ahead of any other inquiries that might be generated for viewing appointments. This list is to secure priority placement, when pups begin week 3, for early appointment scheduling only. This is not a puppy deposit. The Reservation Fee is applied to your final balance. The Reservation Fee is non-refundable if, you do not request (by mail or email) to be removed from the Reservation List within 7 days after you have been notified (by email or telephone call) of the litter's arrival. The Reservation Fee is non-refundable if you are removed from the list for not honoring this early scheduling commitment. Your Reservation Fee is refundable if you would like to be removed because you can no longer wait for your litter's arrival. Is refundable if, after the litter's arrival, your requested gender- color is not available and you request within the 7 day grace period to be removed from the list.
The Reservation List is designed to provide continuity regarding scheduling and basic business commitment. All viewings are done through scheduling. All puppies are secured for their new owner via cash deposit at the 3 week appointment and issued a receipt with gender, color, description of pup and i.d. info. Many owners take home their puppies 24 hours after the second vaccination series are administered. This is done with the blessing of our veterinarian, who has deemed all previous litters at premium health and we are comfortable releasing them. This is beneficial to many, especially hunters, who wish to begin the imprint process and continue initial training.
We want you to be fully satisfied with your new companion and it is important to us that your new companion be in a really adequate environment.
There are many references available regarding these commitments. Many have been touched on already. But besides the obvious proper care and feeding, these animals need space or regular access to it. They will also need containment. See Links below.
